Heads up, Texas business owners: the Comptroller has paused new and renewed HUB certifications while reviewing the program to comply with legal rules (Executive Order GA‑55).
Here’s what that actually means:
• Your existing HUB certifications are safe.
• You can still register via the CMBL and go after state contracts—but the HUB “boost” is on pause.
• New rules are coming, focusing on race- and gender-neutral criteria—so expect some changes, but the goal of inclusion isn’t going anywhere.
Why it matters:
Let’s be real: we don’t support this suspension. The HUB program has been a critical tool helping minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses access state contracts. Pausing it removes opportunities and slows progress toward inclusion.
For business owners: now’s the time to check your registrations, review your processes, and make sure you’re ready to pivot. In other words—don’t wait for the new rules to surprise you.
Stay informed, stay proactive—and keep advocating for fair access.
